Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

The short version: Force Dark Mode strictly stores your on/off preference locally on your device. Nothing is ever sent to any server. We have no backend. We collect nothing.

What Force Dark Mode does

Force Dark Mode is a browser extension that provides a global toolbar switch to force a dark theme across the websites you visit. All styling changes are handled through CSS inversion and applied instantly within the extension's code directly on your device.

What data is stored — and where

All data is stored exclusively in your browser using chrome.storage.local. It never leaves your device. Specifically, the extension saves:

What data is NOT collected

Data sharing

We do not share any data with any third party. There is no server, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no telemetry of any kind. Force Dark Mode has zero network requests.

Data retention and deletion

Your on/off preference remains stored locally so the extension functions seamlessly across sessions. You can delete this data at any time by right-clicking the extension icon, selecting "Manage extension", and clearing its local storage, or simply by uninstalling the extension.

Permissions explained

Children

Force Dark Mode does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The extension collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we ever make meaningful changes to how data is handled, we will update this page and the date at the top. Since all functionality and storage stay local, any future changes would only ever affect what happens on your own device.

If you have any questions about this privacy policy, please reach out via the Chrome Web Store support link on the extension's store page.
