      The short version: Instant Unit Converter stores your last-used units locally on your device to remember your preferences. Nothing is ever sent to any server. We have no backend. We collect nothing.
    

What Instant Unit Converter does

Instant Unit Converter is a browser extension that provides a zero-latency popup for converting between various units of measurement (Length, Mass, Temperature, etc.). All calculations happen instantly within the extension's code directly on your device.

What data is stored — and where

All data is stored exclusively in your browser using chrome.storage.local. It never leaves your device. Specifically, the extension saves:

Your selected category — to reopen the extension on the exact category you were last using (e.g., Length vs. Temperature).
Your selected unit pairs — to remember your preferred conversions (e.g., automatically defaulting to Meters and Feet the next time you open the category).

What data is NOT collected

No personal information (name, email, age, address)
No account or authentication data
No financial information
No health information
No location data
No keystroke or mouse activity logging
No web browsing history or page content

Data sharing

We do not share any data with any third party. There is no server, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no telemetry of any kind. Instant Unit Converter has zero network requests.

Data retention and deletion

Your unit preferences remain stored locally so the extension stays fast and personalized to your workflow. You can delete this data at any time by right-clicking the extension icon, selecting "Manage extension", and clearing its local storage, or simply by uninstalling the extension.

storage — requested solely to use chrome.storage.local to save your last-used unit preferences.

Children

Instant Unit Converter does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The extension collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we ever make meaningful changes to how data is handled, we will update this page and the date at the top. Since all calculations and storage stay local, any future changes would only ever affect what happens on your own device.
